Rob's Dovetail Square is "your third hand" when cutting dovetails. The Dovetail Square does three things at once:

Sets the tailboard and pin-board plumb in the vise.
Sets the tailboard and pin-board at the proper height in the vise.
1:6 dovetail angle to assist you in starting the saw at the proper angle.

If you hand cut dovetails this simple device makes cutting your dovetails a little bit simpler and a little bit more accurate.

Dimensions: 7 inches (178 mm) wide x 4 inches (102 mm) tall x 3/4 inch (19 mm) thick.
Adjustable handle.
Has 1:6 dovetail angles on both sides.
Fits hand planes No. 3 through 7.

Great tool; Easy to use

I thought this was a bit gimmicky, but after trying it during the Train the Hand Workshop, I changed my mind. I find it simple to use and very helpful for lining up my work piece both vertically and at the correct height for my plane.

Perfect Tool

Great tool that makes squaring up very easy.

Dovetail square

Makes it easier to put tail board in vise and it is perfect height for my LN #4 that lives on my bench. I’m not using the saw alignment guides on the sides.

Dove tail square

It’s easier than using the metal square. I haven’t figured out how to use the dove tail angle on the sides, though.
