A Moxon Vise, named after Joseph Moxon (who described the vise in his book titled Mechanick Exercises), is a great vise, and best of all it is easy to build yourself. A Moxon vise is especially useful for cutting dovetails and sawing because it holds the material rock solid, and the middle of the vise is not obstructed by vise hardware. All you need is some 8/4 hardwood for the jaws and our "Cosmanized" hardware kit to make whatever vise size to best suit your needs.

Product Details:
  • Moxon hardware only (Kit DOES NOT include wooded jaws).
  • 2 x 5 inch hand wheels.
  • 2 x 3/4 inch x 8 inch long acme threaded screws.
  • 4 x Acme threaded nuts with washers.
  • 2 x 3 inch long jaw opening springs (compressed spring length is 3/4 inch).
  • 2 x revolving knobs.
  • 2 x 3/8 inch long bronze self-lubricating bushings.
  • 4 x 24 inch long cork / rubber self-adhesive strip.

    Rob Cosmans Moxon vice kit

Well beyond my expectations, which were quite high. The design was carefully thought through from the perspective of a user making it a rarity in today's world as well as being an excellent value proposition

    Well designed kit

The Moxon Vise kit was well designed. After watching the YouTube video, I was able to quickly build a moxon vise that works perfectly in my shop. The quality of materials, especially the handle nobs and springs make this product work flawlessly.

    Cosman Moxon Kit

Finally got around to finishing a project. The Cosman Moxon kit was simple and easy to install but allowed me to customize what I needed in a vice. Totally portable which was a must have. It proudly sits on the Roubo bench I started 10 years ago but most steam to get it finished. Some new found inspiration from Rob's videos and an upcoming course in October.
