Protect your premium backsaws from damage and corrosion during storage or transportation with our custom made VCI (Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor) saw cases.
Our large sized saw cases are specifically designed for our regular and large sized Rob Cosman Bench Crosscut and Medium Tenon backsaws with pistol grips, but this case will accommodate similar backsaws as long as the maximum saw dimensions are not exceeded (see product details below).
Our unique case design is made by sandwiching a layer of VCI lining between an outer layer of tough military spec 500D Cordura nylon and an inner liner of 400D nylon pack cloth. These layers are double stitched together with a YKK zipper around three sides so the case opens like a clam shell. The outer cover has a small leather tab to write your saw’s identification on and a nylon grab tab for ease of carrying or hanging.
The toe of your saw fits into a tough inner sleeve made from polyethylene plastic that protects your saw teeth, and a tape fastener (hook & loop) strap secures the handle to keep the saw from sliding around.
Corrosion of metal tools is a challenge faced by many woodworkers. Vapor corrosion inhibitor (VCI) material is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly method to protect metal against corrosion and rust, eliminating the need for traditional protection methods like oil-based coatings.
The VCI material works by emitting vapor-phase corrosion inhibitors which creates a protective molecular layer on metal surfaces. This molecular layer provides adequate protection against water, oxygen, salt and other contaminants that facilitate the corrosion process.
