Shapton Heavy Stone Holder

Very well built, a huge improvement over the one I have been using. Worth the $$.

A bit over priced BUT you do get what you pay for! I’ve bought tools from the box stores, tool outlets, online through Facebook, etc. I bit the bullet, drank the koolaid, whatever. ALL of the tools and accessories I’ve purchased from RC will be around for years! Good stuff!

I love this holder. The weight makes sharpening on it feel solid. I bought. 16,000 grit shapton to go with it couldn’t be a better pairing. The gets the stone at a comfortable height for when you have to use the Charlesworth tiller trick to remove the burr on your plane irons. Have other stones not as long as the shapton? Doesn’t matter. The rubber on the holder grips the bottom of these stone for a secure feel when in use. I would recommend this product to anyone.

I was hoping an anti-slip mat would be sufficient under my Shapton 16K ceramic stone ... and for honing it was. However, when it came time to flatten the Shapton stone with my 300 grit diamond plate, the suction created between the two pieces had them slip-sliding all over the place. So, I bit the bullet and shelled out the $$ for the heavy stone holder and ... I should have bought it when I bought the Shapton stone! Works perfectly. I just wish my diamond stones were the same size as the stone holder ...
