For over thirty years one of my most trusted dovetail tools has been my marking knife. Working with renowned blade manufacturer IBC, we have created the best knife for transferring tails to your pin board.  I think you will find this knife to be your missing link for laying out and cutting dovetail pins.

  • The knife body is made of metal and is surprisingly hefty

  • Two piece body with space to store a spare blade.

  • The rectangular handle will register in your hand to help you “feel” the blade's position.

  • Comes with straight blade ONLY.

  • Click HERE to go to the marking knife with a sawtooth blade page.

  • Replacement blades available HERE.

Marking Knife Blade:

  • Specifically designed for transferring tails to the pin-board using the traditional marking method.

  • Wide at the tip for better registration against the tail.

  • Radius tip “track’s” in the end grain, helping to prevent the knife from straying off course as you mark your lines.

  • Micro-bevel on both sides prevents cutting into the tail and creates a mark that is easy to see.

    Excellent customer service

I haven’t got a chance to use the product, but Mr. Cosman. Called me twice to personally tell me my shipping status and to say thank you for buy from him. I was blown away by this and really appreciate it. Thanks and much love from South Texas.

    Dovetail Marking Knife works great!

I love this dovetail marking knife! It works great! I just finished using it and it performed as advertised. Rob’s dovetail saw fit exactly in the knife groove so all I had to do was saw straight in line with the groove. My saw skills are improving but I need to get better. Rob’s method keeps things as simple as possible. Kudos to Rob for eliminating the variables that have plagued those who aspire to cut dovetail joints by hand! He’s a great teacher!

    2 birds 1 stone

For me this not only provides greater accuracy than an ordinary marking knife, it also expedites the whole process by establishing a kerf. As a beginner who still struggles with starting the kerf, this helps tremendously.
