The Moxon Vise, named after Joseph Moxon (who described the vise in his book titled Mechanick Exercises), is a great vise. A Moxon vise is especially useful for cutting dovetails and sawing because it holds the material rock solid and in the middle of the vise where it is not obstructed by any hardware.

Rob designed his own version of the Moxon Vise.  It uses all the components that come with our Cosmanized Moxon Vise Kit but it is a completely built vise.  If you prefer an already built moxon vise that is ready to use instead of building your own then this is the vise for you!

We "Cosmanize" the WoodRiver Moxon Vise kit by adding two vise springs, two self-lubricating bushings, two revolving knobs, drilling and tapping a hole in each of the wheels for mounting the revolving knobs, and providing a strip of cork-rubber to line the jaw with. These additions take the WoodRiver Moxon Vise kit to the next level.

    Moxon vise purchase

The vise I was using was shoberg 3 bar vise that did not enable me to properly clamp the piece. Your Moxon Vise fills the bill. Thanks

    High quality vice

Bought it when it went on sale. The one I built myself years ago had lower quality hardware, was a bit frustrating to use, and I wanted something better. Was more time efficient to just buy one already made and wanted to support the work Rob does with the PhP. The vice is typical of Cosman products, very high quality and a joy to use. I’ve never regretted a single purchase from him.

    Moxion vice

I love my moxon vice, with my bad back it allows me to put it at a comfortable height. Also the two handed spring action handles make life a lot easie.
